Deluxe Ground Tour:
Years before President Roosevelt uttered the tribute, “I came, I saw, I was conquered” during dedication ceremonies at Hoover Dam on September 30, 1935 (when the dam was then-named “Boulder Dam”), curiosity-seekers from around the world descended upon Black Canyon to watch the construction flurry first-hand. Towering 726.4 feet from foundation rock to the roadway on the crest of the dam, Hoover Dam is the tallest solid concrete dam in the western hemisphere. Visitors have the choice of a self-guided walk atop the dam (including entry into the once-private Old Exhibit Building and the Visitors Center), or for an additional $3 per person admission purchased at the dam, visitors can take the government’s “Discovery Tour” which offers a view of some of the electric turbines used to generate power. Before your 2-hour dam tour, you’ll enjoy lunch at a choice of restaurants in Boulder City, the town that housed workers and their families during the dam’s construction during the Great Depression. Vision Exclusive: you’ll receive a “Boulder Bargains” card, providing a 10% on-the-spot discount at various retailers throughout the historic district of Boulder City
